Dr. Seuss Kids Room Idea #4

Why have a plain old ceiling fan when you can have a Cat in the Hat striped fan instead! This idea is super easy and you can use the fan you already have! All you need to do is detach the fan blades be sure to clean them and remove any dust or lint, paint them white and let them dry. (I use spray paint, be sure to purchase a good quality brand from your hardware store) Next tape off the sections you want to be red with blue painters tape and paint those sections red to get the stripes. Lastly use a small paint brush and paint a thin black line between stripes to make your work more clean and professional looking! That easy after they dry re-install!

Dr. Seuss Kid's Room Idea #3

Fill your room with the classic faces of Dr. Seuss! It's pretty easy with a little patience and elbow grease!

Decide what image/s you'd like for your room! Prepare a color and black and white copy
.Using the black and white copy, make a transparency of the image. Most office supply stores have transparency sheets available for purchase.You can use a copier or scanner to make the transparency, or have a local office supply store or copy center assist you.
Borrow, rent or purchase a projector. You may be able to borrow an overhead projector from your employer or a local school. Most office supply stores also have projectors available for rent.
Turn the projector on and project the design onto the area you plan to paint.
Put your transparency image on the projector and adjust the projector until the image is the desired size. Make sure the projector is squarely situated in front of the wall. If it is angled, it will distort the image.
Trace the projected image on the wall with a soft pencil. In case you need to move the projector before you are finished, mark the position of the projector with masking tape.
Using the color copy of the image, purchase the paint you need for your mural. Use acrylic paints, although interior latex paints are a feasible option for large areas of color.
Paint the large areas of your mural first, using a wide, flat paintbrush. Add details and outline images with a round paintbrush.

After the paint is completely dry, erase all pencil marks.

More Seuss Kids Room Ideas! Here is #2! Decorate those walls! This is a pretty simple DIY if you are artsy and can stand some work, if not you can always look up a local artist, or place an ad for an artist to come paint a mural on your walls for you. You can go simple with red and white stripes. Adding a black outline along the red stripes to resemble Cat in the Hat's stripes makes your design that much more fabulous, don't worry the black line doesn't need to be straight in fact if it's crooked all the better!
Keep an eye out for post #3 I will give you directions on how to do your own wall murals in Seuss characters!

Dr. Seuss brings out the kid in all of us. What better way to bring your child's room to life then to decorate it in a Seussical theme! Here are some ideas to help inspire your Seuss rooms! I will be posting new ideas through out the next few weeks so check back often to see more unique designs!
Idea #1. Garage sales are a great place to find old furniture to bring back to life! This idea is so easy, find a dresser that is still in stable shape to refinish. Paint white, purchase some new knobs, get some vinyl stickers in the one fish two fish red fish blue fish and your done (I found mine at Target)! That easy, and if you'd purchased that at a boutique it would be hundreds!

Realtree Camo and Diamond Plate Wall Letters

My husband and I are huge outdoor fans and wanted to decorate our sons room in realtree camo, after searching high and low, there wasn't a thing already made out there to help decorate his room! So, I got to work creating some fun decor items! One major issue on this redecorating ordeal was to stay very budget conscious! Here are a few tips to make your little man his own hunter’s paradise!

1. I put his old bunk bed on our local free classified list- sold it same day for $300!

2. Looked on that same classifieds list for log furniture, found an amazing deal! We got his log bed w/ mattress, log dresser, and a huge log chair (not pictured it wouldn't fit in his room so we use it outside to decorate the patio) all for $500 which means I only paid $200 for all new furniture for his room SCORE!

3. Found his new realtree bedding set on ebay brand new for $55 came with everything we needed.

4. Picked paint to match his bedding $45

5. My husband and I were browsing around Wal-Mart one day in the hunting area and found all these huge blinds for $5! We bought them with the intentions of letting our son make forts with them. But then I had this great idea, I repurposed them in into a valance for his window and a canopy for his bed!

6. Right after Christmas is a super time to find decor that will work for outdoor themes! We went to the craft store after Christmas and found these long pinecone evergreen vines (see pics I used them for valance and canopy) marked off 75% so I paid $2 ea! A cute potted evergreen plant for his dresser $5, a moose stocking holder $2 (looks cute as decor) Also got a pic on ebay of an outdoor scene for his wall and framed it in barn wood.

7. Found a great lamp at hobby lobby for 50% off! And 5 metal wall signs with different hunting sayings on them

8. Last but not least (it only took me a year) I finished my son's wall letters in realtree hardwoods camo and diamond plate! Probably the coolest thing on his walls! You know what they say family usually comes last when it comes to taking care of things around the house, you do for a living! So all in all it cost me about $350 to totally redo my sons room not to shabby I'd say!

A fun idea for your nursery or playroom

ABC's are for everyone! This is a super fun, inexpensive idea; even the kids can join in and help create this master piece for your wall! Start with all different size and font unpainted wood letters. Then let your imagination run wild! You can add glitter, paint, buttons, scrapbook paper, rhinestones, stickers, pretty much anything you can craft with, you can even use some old frames you have hangin around and give them new life by framing a letter or two! Once the artwork is completely dry you're ready to hang these babies up. Best part about this whimsical art is that they don't have to hang straight! *Tip: use mounting tape to hang them, it will provide a heavy duty hold and the letter can be hung at any angle or tilt. Send me some pics if you do this project, I'd love to see what creative ideas you can come up with!
